Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a primer composition which can improve the adhesion of, e.g., a polybutadiene resin to metals, ceramics or the like, by mixing a mercapto silane coupling agent with water and an organic solvent compatible with the former two. CONSTITUTION:A primer composition prepared by mixing a silane coupling agent having at least one mercapto group in the molecule (e.g., 3- mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane) and water (preferably, highly pure ion- exchanged water) and an organic solvent compatible with the former two (preferably, a lower aliphatic alcohol such as methanol or ethanol is desirable from the viewpoint of an ability of wetting a substrate and improved dryability after application). It can improve the adhesion of a polybutadiene resin, a rubber-modified heat/light-curable resin, or the like to metals, ceramics or the like, and is useful for sealing an electronic component, a circuit board, etc.
