Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase critical current density at the liquid nitrogen temp. by equipping a composite body of multiple structure with a glass layer between a covering metal pipe and a superconductor of oxide type, and subjecting it to hot degressive processing and a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A glass pipe is inserted in a metal pipe of Cu, CuNi, etc., and this is filled with a mixture of oxide powder or its provisionally baked powder, which is so prepared as to produce a superconductor of oxide type through heat treatment of BaCO3, Y2O3, CuO, etc. This composite body is heated to a temp. over the glass softening point and subjected to a degressive processing such as hot drawing-out, swaging, rolling whereby the section area is decreased, to shape it into a wire or tape, that is then subjected to another heat treatment to make its central part a superconductor of oxide type having a high critical current density with sufficient oxygen content. As a glass layer exists between the metal pipe and the powder, oxygen transfer from the powder to metal pipe is hindered at the time of heat treatment, that allows production of a superconductor of oxide type with sufficient oxygen content, in which the critical current density is raised.
