Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve cooling water retention time and cooling performance by making the upper end part of a cooling water chamber communicate directly with the lower end part of a radiator, and connecting the lower end part of the cooling water chamber to the lower end part of a subtank through a pressure valve, and the cooling water chamber to the lower end part of the subtank through a negative pressure valve. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water chamber 6 is formed around both the combustion chamber top wall part 2a of a cylinder head 2 and a cylinder liner 3, and made to communicate directly with the lower end part of a radiator 8 at its upper end part to prevent the formation of an air bubble retention part. A cooling water passage 15 is formed of a partition 9 beside a radiator 8, and connected to the lower end part of the cooling water chamber 6 at its lower end part 15a. A pressure valve 20 is arranged between the upper end part of the cooling water passage and a middle chamber 16, and connected to a subtank 18 whose upper end is opened to atmospheric air. In addition to that, a negative pressure valve 21 is arranged between an upper tank 9 of the radiator 8 and the middle chamber 16.
