Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the accurate detection of a rotating speed, a rotating position or the like of a rotary body at all times even when a state of parallel with the rotary body breaks down, by a construction wherein magnetic-field detecting elements each formed by laminating a pellet of a semiconductor magnetoelectric conversion element are disposed in the shape of a three-dimensional solid body. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic sensor 1 has a construction wherein magnetic-field detecting elements 3 each formed of a pellet of a semiconductor magnetoelectric conversion element are disposed in the shape of a three-dimensional solid body. Concretely, one cross-shaped pellet 2 is attached on each of the bottom surface 12 of a cubic substrate 4 and the two lateral surfaces 13 and 14, and the detecting elements 3 are formed on a first plane formed by the axes (x) and (y), a second plane formed by the axes (y) and (z) and a third plane formed by the axes (z) and (x), respectively. In the case when a magnetic field from a rotary body 6 does not fall on one detecting element 3 at the right angle, the magnetic field falls on one or two other detecting elements 3. When detection values of the detecting element 3 whereon the magnetic field falls are composed, the composite detection value thereof is excellent and a rotating speed and a rotating position of the rotary body 6 can be measured therefrom accurately. In the case when the detecting element 3 is formed of a laminate of pellets 2 in a plurality, the detecting element 3 has a high output, thus enabling the attainment of more accurate measurement.
