Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a series of processes including the deletion of noises, the binarization and the labeling operation successively and at one time, by providing a shift register which stores the label number preceding by a single scan for each picture element. CONSTITUTION:A local picture register 1 inputs a picture signal, a picture signal delayed by a single horizontal line, and a picture signal delayed by two horizontal lines and stores them as the local picture data. An arithmetic block 2 supplies the local picture data of the register 1 and performs the noise deleting process and the binarizing process. Then the block 2 extracts the label number added to the corresponding picture element preceding by a single horizontal scan out of a labeling shifter 7 when the binarizing result has a high level and then outputs said label number as the arithmetic result with addition of the label number against the picture element under processing. A horizontal picture shifter 6 inputs the label numbers corresponding to the picture elements outputted from the block 2 by an amount equal to a single horizontal scan and outputs these label numbers to the shifter 7 after shifting them successively. Thus the block 2 can refer to the labeling result preceding by a single horizontal scan and the labeling process is carried out.
