Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the direction of a moving body by installing plural antennas on the moving body separately and measuring the phase difference between radio waves. CONSTITUTION:The radio waves from two broadcasting stations are received by the antennas 1 and 2 fixed on the moving body and converted by a frequency switching converter 4 to a measurement frequency (f) which is a common multiple or multiple of their transmission frequencies. The interval between the antennas 1 and 2 is set <=1/2 of the wavelength of the measurement frequency previously. A phase difference measuring instrument 5 detects the phase difference between the measurement frequencies (f) by the antennas 1 and 2 which are converted by the converter 4 and the phase difference is passed through a code discriminator 7 to select one positive or negative value, which is stored in a memory circuit 8. Then an antenna switch 3 switches the antennas, the converter 4 performs conversion to the frequency (f), and one positive or negative value is stored in the circuit 8 through the measuring instrument 5 and discriminator 7. Then an angle detector 9 and an azimuth calculator 10 find a direction angle common to the two transmitting stations from the two phase differences stored in the circuit 8 and the interval between the antennas 1 and 2, and the angle is displayed on a display device 11 as the direction of the moving body.
