Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of ghost even upon repeated printing by using the same part of the title medium, by providing a resin layer having a specified thickness and capable of being releasably adhered to a receiving body, over the entire surface of an ink-maintaining layer. CONSTITUTION:A resin layer 7 having a thickness of 0.05-0.5mum and capable of being releasably adhered to a receiving body at least at the time of thermal transfer is provided on the entire surface of an ink.maintaining layer 3. At the time of thermal transfer, heating by a thermal head 20 causes formation of pores 8 at parts of the resin layer 7 corresponding to pores 5 in a porous structure 4 in the ink-maintaining layer 3 in a printing area, and a colored ink 6 flows out through the pores 8. However, in the areas surrounding the pores 8, the resin layer 7 is adhered to a receiving body 20, whereby the pores 8 are sealed off. Therefore, the colored ink 6 melted by heating and caused to flow out from the pores 5 through the pores 8 can flow only in the direction of the receiving body 21, and can not flow to the surroundings of the pores 8. Thus, the ink 6 will not be left on the surface of the ink-maintaining layer 3 at the boundary between a heated area and a non-heated area upon printing.
