Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the amt. of S in electrodeposited Cu without increasing a man-hour and to produce high purity copper by using an aq. soln. contg. copper nitrate and copper sulfate as essential components as an electrolytic soln. CONSTITUTION:High purity refined copper nitrate [Cu(NO3)2.3H2O] crystals and copper sulfate (CuSO4.5H2O) crystals are dissolved in pure water in a prescribed molar ratio (m); (0.23<m<150). Oxygen-free copper of 99.996% purity as the anode is put in the resulting aq. soln. and electrolytic refining is carried out at 3.4A/dm<2> cathode current density and 25 deg.C to deposit refined copper on the cathode. By this method, high purity copper having a high residual resistance ratio (RRR) is obtd.
