Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a rare-earth permanent magnet alloy excellent in corrosion resistance, by preparing an alloy having a basic composition consisting of rare-earth metals, iron, boron, and titanium. CONSTITUTION:An alloy is cast in a high-frequency melting furnace under an argon-gas atmosphere so that it has a basic composition consisting of rare- earth metals, iron, boron, and titanium, which is crushed to the prescribed grain size and formed into a magnetic powder. Subsequently, a metal mold is filled with the above magnetic powder, which is subjected to magnetic orientation in a magnetic field, compacted, and then sintered at the optimum temp. in an argon-gas atmosphere. further, one or >=2 elements among Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Dy, etc., are used as the rare-earth metals. By this method, a permanent magnet remarkably improved in corrosion resistance can be obtained.
