PURPOSE:To reduce man-hour for production by setting a core in sand mold body under condition of closely fitting with a cylinder liner and after that, casting a cylinder block by pouring molten metal in the sand mold. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part 7a for setting a cylinder liner 2 is formed at the part corresponding to a cylinder bore 1a in the core 1. The liner 2 is set at the recessed part 7a and the sand is packed to form the core 1, and the core is set in a high frequency induction apparatus 8 to preheat the liner 2. Next, the core 1 is set in the sand mold body 3 and molten Al alloy 6 is poured from a ladle to cast the cylinder block. As gap between the part is corresponding to the cylinder bore in the core 1 and inner circumferential face of the liner 2 is entirely eliminated, the running of the molten metal into the gap is prevented. Therefore, the removing work by such running is eliminated and the man-hour of the production is reduced.
