Abstract

PURPOSE:To apply coating fluid having a thickness and quality uniform in a width direction to an object by supplying coating fluid from each supply port continuously expanding its width and continuously contracting its thickness, bringing coating fluid from each supporting port into a line in slots and extruding it from slot-shaped openings. CONSTITUTION:Coating fluid 2 supplied by a fixed delivery pump 9 into a coating head 1 is delivered into slots 6a-6e having such a shape that the coating fluid expands from each supply port 4a-4e in a width direction by inverse triangles having an angle theta<=40 deg. and contracts in a wedge shape having alpha<=0.35 deg.. In these slots 6a-6e, the coating fluid 2 expands continuously in a width direction and contracts continuously in a thickness direction and is extruded and applied from slot openings 7 in a line onto a continuously running long belt- typed supporter. By the action of such slots 6a-6e coating fluid 2 such as photographic emulsion, magnetic material can be applied to a long belt-typed supporter in a uniform thickness and quality in a width direction without causing eddy current and streaks at all.
