Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily obtain a digital output without using any A/D converter by outputting a pulse signal with pulse width regarding the time required for the temperature variation of a heating body, etc., as flow rate information on fluid to be measured. CONSTITUTION:A heater 2 and a temperature sensor 3 which measures its temperature are arranged in a flow passage 1 and the heater 2 heats or cools the fluid by constant temperature (T2-T1). Then reference voltages V1 and V2 are set to the output voltages of the sensor 3 corresponding to temperatures T1 and T2. When the output A of the sensor 3 exceeds the voltage V2 by the heating of the heater 2, the output C of a comparator 5 rises and the pulse signal D reaches L level, so that the heating is stopped. The heater is cooled by the fluid and when the output A of the sensor 3 decreases below the V1 later, the output of a comparator 4 falls and the signal D reaches H level again, so that heating 2 is restarted. Said operation is repeated. Consequently, a counter 9 counts clock pulses from a clock oscillator 10 for the time of the L level of the signal D and its output becomes digital data regarding the flow rate of the fluid.
