PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive optical scanner free of producing dust and having a high scanning frequency by providing a reflecting mirror with a reflecting face perpendicular to the scanning direction of light beams in a scanning area between a rotating mirror and said area. CONSTITUTION:A polygon mirror 1 is rotated about a rotating axis 3, and the reflected light beam 4 of an incident light beam 2 is polarized in the direction of a reflected light beam 41 and moves on a face to be scanned or a space 5.
