Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive optical scanner free of producing dust and having a high scanning frequency by providing a reflecting mirror with a reflecting face perpendicular to the scanning direction of light beams in a scanning area between a rotating mirror and said area. CONSTITUTION:A polygon mirror 1 is rotated about a rotating axis 3, and the reflected light beam 4 of an incident light beam 2 is polarized in the direction of a reflected light beam 41 and moves on a face to be scanned or a space 5. A reflecting plate 7 perpendicular to the scanning direction shown by an arrow in the scanning area 6 is provided in the spatial area outside by a scanning angle phi, and between the polygon mirror 1 and the face to be scanned or the space 5. When the polygon mirror 1 rotates to make the incident light beam 2 incident on a next reflecting face 11', said beam makes incident on the reflecting mirror 7, is reflected thereon and goes toward a chain line 42.
