Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce curvature of field and distortion by converging a light beam through a spherical single lens and a reflecting mirror with a reflecting surface whose radius of curvature in a scanning direction is larger than the radius of curvature in a direction crossing said scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:The light beam generating device consisting of a light source 1, etc., sends the light beam to a deflecting device 6. The deflecting device 6 deflects the light beam and the spherical single lens 8 converges the light beam to correct the curvature of field and distortion in a main scanning direction roughly. The light beam passed through the spherical single lens 8 is converged on a toric surface reflecting mirror 9 and converged as a spot on the scanned surface of a photosensitive drum 10. The toric surface reflecting mirror 9 is formed as a reflecting mirror whose radius of curvature in the scanning direction is larger than the radius of curvature in the direction crossing the scanning direction at right angles and the remainder which can not be compensated by the spherical single lens 8 is compensated. Thus the light beam is converged through the spherical single lens and toric surface reflecting mirror, the curvature of field and distortion are suppressed within permissible ranges, and the device is reduced in size.
