Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a water jet propelling device having a simple structure, a satisfactory maneuverability and a high economy, by providing a coaxially rotatable cylindrical moving member and a deflectable hood which are rotatable orthogonal to the moving member in the rear end section of an water jet engine provided underwater so that the propelling device is remotely controlled by an automatic control mechanism. CONSTITUTION:In the rear end section of a water jet propelling unit 7 arranged underwater, for producing axial thrust, there are provided a coaxially fitted rotary cylinder 14, and an arcuated thrust vector changing deflectable hood 21 rotatably journalled at its front end to the rear end part of the rotary cylinder 14 by means of pins orthogonal to the rotary axis of the rotary cylinder 4 and having a free end extending rearward. Further, the propelling unit 7, the rotary cylinder 14 and the deflectable hood 21 are remotely controlled by an automatic control mechanism. Accordingly, by remotely controlling the rotary cylinder 14 and the deflectable hood 54, the jot stream from the propeller unit 7 is directed in an optional direction, thereby it is possible to provide a water jet propelling unit having a simple structure, a satisfactory maneuverability and a high economy.
