Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the gain of a main amplifier from being affected by a resistance of a protection resistor by providing 1st and 2nd protection resistors for current attenuation connected in parallel with an external connection terminal and 1st and 2nd protection diodes connected respectively to the protection resistors. CONSTITUTION:A protection circuit 140 is a circuit protecting an integrated circuit 01 from an external surge voltage impressed to an external connection terminal 104 and consists of the 1st and 2nd protection resistors 141, 142 and diodes 143-146. The 1st protection resistor 141 is connected between the external connection terminal 104 and a node N11 and the 2nd protection resistor 142 is connected between the external connection terminal 104 and a node N12 respectively. The 1st protection diodes 143, 144 are connected between the 1st protection diode 141 and the node N11 while being branched and a power supply voltage Vdd is given to the diode 143 and a ground potential Vss is given to the diode 144. Moreover, the 2nd protection diodes 145, 146 are connected between the 2nd protection resistor 142 and the node N12 while being branched and a power supply voltage Vdd is given to them respectively similarly. Thus, a desired gain is obtained while the protection resistor does not given any adverse effect onto the main amplifier.
