Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect stratum interface precisely and highly accurately by computing spectrum peak frequency, direct current component ratio and half width from the spectrum distribution of a received reflected signal. CONSTITUTION:When elastic waves are radiated into the underground 8 by the use of an excitating device 1, reflecting waves which are reflected from various stratum interfaces in the underground 8 are received by a receiver 2 as a observation signal, namely, a reflecting signal having wideband frequency characteristics. This observation signal is transmitted to an arithmetic unit 4, a power spectrum is called for by converting it into a frequency domain by the means of high speed conversion processing. Next, spectrum frequency fP, spectrum strength IP, direct current component strength Idc and half width W are read from the spectrum distribution and direct current component ratio Rdc is computed. After spectrum peak frequency fP, direct current component ratio Rdc and peak width at half height W are obtained, the distribution of said value is examined, unnecessary reflecting signals are removed, and the reflecting signals from the stratum interface and the cross section of the underground are shown in a display.
