Abstract
PURPOSE:To drastically improve the oxidation resistance by adding specific amt. of lanthanoids except Ce to an Fe-Cr-Al alloy. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the alloy is constituted of, by weight, <=0.03% C, <=1.0% Si, 13-27% Cr, 3.5-8% Al, 0.05-0.20% lanthanoids such as La, Nd, etc., except Ce, >=8 times as much as C% and <=0.30% Zr and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Lanthanoids except Ce have effect on the improvement of oxidation resistance and the exfoliation resistance of oxide scales. Ce is excluded because it deteriorates the hot workability and oxidation resistance. Since the steel having said compsn. has excellent hot rollability, cold rollability and oxidation resistance, it is suitable as stainless foil for a catalyst converter of an automobile, etc.
