Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a laminated tube excellent in quality at low cost by a method wherein a shape memory alloy outer die is used. CONSTITUTION:The shape memory alloy of a shape memory alloy tubular outer die 3 elongates by 5% at normal temperature of 17-27 deg.C and turns into memorized dimension at 100 deg.C. Carbon prepreg sheets 5 and 6 are wound round an inner diametral mandrel 4. On the outer periphery of the resultant outer layer 6a, the shape memory alloy outer die 3 is covered and heated at 120 deg.C for 1 hour in order to harden it. By being cooled down to normal temperature, the outer die 3 expands diametrically, resulting in separating the outer die 3 from the outer layer 6a. Next, the inner diametral mandrel 4 is separated so as to obtain a laminated tube 7. On the outer diameter of the resultant laminated tube 7, no partial shrinkage develops, resulting in obtaining the uniform and almost perfect circular shape.
