Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit a high-temperature, high-speed baking of the coated layer on a metal product of a continuous length, particularly synthetic enamel coating insulated wire by passing said metal product through a normal heating furnace for evaporating most of the solvent contained in the coated film and thereafter through a heating furnace controlled the oxygen content below 5%. CONSTITUTION:The coated metal product of a continuous length (e.g. synthetic enamel coating insulated wire) is baked while being passed through a normally ventilated heating furnace until most of the solvent contained in the coat film is evaporated. This is thereafter baked again while being passed through a heating furnace controlled to oxygen content below 5%. In the normal heating furnace, the crosslinking degree of resins in the paint film is kept insufficient: the oxidization of the paint film and metal product is held so as not to exceed a certain degree. Then the reheating is done in a heating furnace having a small oxygen content, the oxidization of the resin paint film and metal product being hindered. This makes the high-temperature baking possible, improving the characteristic features of the paint film.
