Abstract

An electrostatic powder coating system in which one or more powder base layers and a powder top coating layer are sequentially deposited without any form of intermediate heating being applied to the articles being coated, with a final common application of heat to the multi-coated article, uses devices which prevent the covering layer deposited from being contaminated by impurities. The articles are conveyed by an overhead system between cabins incorporating a powder extraction system to prevent the base layer, e.g. black or blue, for enamelling, from contaminating the top layer which is e.g. white.
