Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a light guide which has small variance in brightness between its center part and peripheral part by arranging optical fibers which differ in opening angle and form respective layers almost concentrically in opening angle increasing order from the center side. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber layer consisting of optical fibers 21 of a light guide 20 and an optical fiber layer consisting of optical fibers 22 are arranged almost concentrically so that the opening angle of the optical fibers 22 constituting the optical fiber layer on the center side is smaller than that of the optical fibers 21 constituting the optical fiber layer on the peripheral side. The opening angles of the optical fibers 21 and 22 are determined by their materials, so the center side optical fibers 22 and peripheral optical fibers 21 are made of different materials. Further, the arrangements of the optical fibers 21 and optical fibers 22 on a photodetection side are varied properly to vary a brightness distribution. Consequently, lighting which has a uniform brightness distribution and is free of an irregularity of light is provided.
