Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to adjust a discharge starting voltage in a large range so as to reduce delay of discharge by providing a step around an insulating thin plate for forming a microgap space there for letting discharge performed easily in the space. CONSTITUTION:For an insulating thin plate 1, Al, zirconia, or the like is formed into a plate, preferably in the form of a disc. a conductive thin film 2 of Ti, W, Ni, or the like having a good electric conductivity and arc resistant discharge property is formed on the thin plate 1 by evaporation, blowing, or the like. A step is provided around the thin plate 1 by mechanical work or the like so as to form a microgap space, and the thinned part along the periphery is insulated for the whole circumference for facilitating discharge. Next at both ends of a laminated body of thin plates 1, electrode terminals 4 are formed by pressure attachment or the like of metal plates on the front and back surfaces of the thin plates. The thin plates are laminated using binding agent or the like. A discharge stating voltage can thus be adjusted in a large range, and delay of discharge can be reduced.
