安定化ジルコニアと、この安定化ジルコニアの両
面に設けられた2個の電極と、前記電極のいづれ
か一方を覆い、かつ微小拡散孔が設けられた蓋と
、前記安定化ジルコニアを加熱するヒータとを有
し、不完全燃焼により発生する一酸化炭素と残存
酸素とを前記電極材料の触媒作用により燃焼させ
ることによつて、前記電極間に印加される電圧の
所定の領域において残存一酸化炭素により発生す
るセンサ電流が燃焼排ガス中または大気中の酸素
により発生するセンサ電流に比較して大きいこと
