[Industrial Field of Application] The present invention relates to a control agent for the beetle beetle,
The details relate to mating inhibitors. [Prior Art] The beetle is widely distributed almost all over the world, and its diet is very diverse, including documents, fibers, feed, and foods such as bread and biscuits. It also likes to parasitize medicinal herbs, including medicinal ginseng, which is the origin of its name.
It has become an important pest of stored goods in pharmaceutical and food factories. These indoor pests have a strong relationship with humans, and naturally there are many restrictions in terms of safety and health when designing control methods, and it is difficult to use effective control methods used for other pests. is also often impossible to implement. For example, in certain warehouses, highly toxic fumigant agents such as hydrogen phosphide and methyl bromide are used to control the beetles; only is allowed. [Problems to be solved by the invention] Since DDVP agents have no residual effect or permeability, although they can kill adult insects that live in areas where they can easily come into contact with the agent, they can kill insects that live hidden in the corners of factories. It has almost no effect on adult insects, eggs, larvae, and pupae, so it is necessary to use the agent frequently.
As a result, even if the population density of adults is successfully reduced temporarily, the disadvantage is that the population density of adults will recover in a short period of time due to new emergence. Therefore, the loss of raw materials and contamination of products caused by these pests has become a major problem in food storage management, and the development of safe new pest control means has long been desired. [Means for Solving the Problems] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mating inhibitor that is safe and has no fear of toxicity to humans or livestock or environmental pollution, unlike conventional pesticides, and is also strong against the beetles. What was done (±)
This is a mating inhibitor for the beetle beetle that contains (2S, 3R, 7S)-stegovinone as an active ingredient. The structure of the sex pheromone secreted by females of the beetle to initiate mating behavior is a known compound [2,3-dihydro-2,3,5-trimethyl-
6-(1-methyl-2-oxobutyl)-4H-pyran-4-one], its common name is (±)(2S, 3R,
7R) - known as stegovinone. Stegovinone has the following chemical structure, and there are eight possible isomers. The number of each atom used to indicate the isomer is defined as follows. As a result of examining the mating activity of various stegovinone isomers, the present inventors found that among the eight possible isomers, (±) (2S, 3R, 7S)-stegovinone strongly inhibits mating in the beetles. I found out the truth. That is, the present inventors have
Synthetic stegovinone (isomer mixture) was synthesized by the method described in 112981, and its mating activity was assayed, and it showed no activity at all. Furthermore, although the pheromone (2S, 3R, 7R)-stegovinone isolated from females showed strong mating activity when used alone, this activity was completely abolished when a small amount of synthetic stegovinone was added to it. Therefore, the present inventors believed that there was a component in this synthetic stegovinone that inhibited the mating activity of the pheromone, and as a result of searching for that compound, they found that it was an isomer of the pheromone (±)
We discovered that even the presence of a trace amount of (2S, 3R, 7S)-stegovinone inhibits the mating behavior of male adult beetles. The present invention has been made based on this knowledge. (±)(2S,3R,7S)-stegovinone is easily available industrially. For example, JP-A-59-
112981. That is, pyranone obtained by treating 4-methylheptane-3,5-diol and acetaldehyde with boron trifluoride is condensed with propionic anhydride and zinc chloride to obtain synthetic stegovinone in high yield. The (±)(2S,3R,7S)-stegovinone of the present invention can be easily obtained by separating this isomer mixture by high performance liquid chromatography. Furthermore, even if the mating inhibitor used in the present invention contains an equal amount of pheromone [(2S, 3R, 7R)-stegovinone], its effect can be sufficiently exerted. When using the mating inhibitor of the present invention, it can be formulated into wettable powders, emulsions, powders, granules, fine granules, etc. by adding appropriate carriers or adjuvants according to the usual formulation method, and then administered using the usual method. It can be used by
Furthermore, by using an appropriate device, it is possible to increase the long-term mating inhibition effect. It is preferable to use heat or wind to dissipate the mating-inhibiting component. A major feature of the copulation inhibitor is that the amount of the copulation inhibiting ingredient dropped is extremely small compared to the conventional dose to achieve the purpose of the copulation inhibitor. [Effect] The mating inhibitor of the present invention has an effect of inhibiting the mating behavior of the Chinese beetles, unlike the direct insecticidal effects of conventional control agents such as hydrogen phosphide and methyl bromide. Example 1 A filter paper of the same diameter was placed in a shear tray with a diameter of 9 cm,
10 unmated male adult beetles are released on top of the beetles and allowed to rest in a bright place with a temperature of 28°C and humidity of 60%. Fold a piece of filter paper of 5 mm x 2 cm, and add pheromone (2S,
3R,7R)-stegovinone 0.1 μg and (±) of the present invention
(2S, 3R, 7S) - Stegovinone 0.1, 0.01, 0.001μ
Add the mixture of g and put it in a shearley. As a control, a piece of filter paper to which only 0.1 μg of pheromone was added was used. 10 males gathered on a piece of filter paper
The total number of attractions and mating behavior per minute were compared. The experiment was repeated 20 times, and the average values are shown in Table 1.

[Table] Example 2 A bottle is attached to the tip of each of two tubes extending parallel from one end of the shear tree, each having a diameter of 8 cm and a depth of 2 cm, and four unmated female adult beetles of the beetle are placed in each bottle. And one bottle contains 10μ of (±)(2S,3R,7S)-stegovinone.
Add a piece of filter paper with a diameter of 5 mm. 40 unmated male adult beetles are released in the center of the shearley. A hole is made on the opposite side of the shearley, and air is sucked out of the shearley at a flow rate of 0.3 ml/min through the hole, so that the pheromone emitted by the female flows into the shearley from the bottle containing the female. do. Four hours after introducing the insects, we counted the number of females and (±)(2S, 3R, 7S)-adult insects that entered the tube on the side attached to the bottle containing filter paper supplemented with stegovinone, and only females. The number of adults entering the control tube attached to the bottle was compared.
The experiment was repeated 10 times, and the average values are shown in Table 2.

Place a polypropylene disk and seal.
Sixteen and ten female adult beetles were released into this box and kept overnight at a temperature of 28°C and humidity of 60%, after which females were selected and dissected.
The presence or absence of copulation was determined by examining the presence or absence of semen in the mating sac. In addition, a control area was one in which no disks were placed. The results are shown in Table 3. The experiment was repeated four times, and the average value is shown.
