Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled container free from disagreeable odor and suitable as a container for electronic range, by compounding specific amounts of an antistatic and lubricant to a composition composed of talc, calcium carbonate and a polyolefin resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective container can be produced by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a composition composed of (i) 10-80wt.% talc and/or calcium carbonate and (ii) 90-20wt.% polyolefin resin with (B) 0.05-5pts.wt. of an antistatic (preferably a fatty acid polyhydric alcohol ester) and/or a lubricant (preferably an unsaturated fatty acid amide).

Polyolefin resin compositions made by adding talc or calcium carbonate to polyolefins are used as food packaging containers because they are heat resistant or easily incinerated. however,
Polyolefin resins, talc, and calcium carbonate themselves do not have unpleasant odors, but polyolefin resin compositions in which talc and calcium carbonate are mixed with polyolefin resins have unpleasant odors, which is problematic when used as food packaging containers. In particular, when the container containing the contents is heated in a microwave oven or the like, the unpleasant odor is further promoted, so that the container is not satisfactory as a food container.

The ratio of polyolefin resin and inorganic filler is 10 to 80% by weight of inorganic filler and 90 to 20% by weight of polyolefin resin.
If the polyolefin resin is 90% by weight or more, the heat resistance will be poor when heated in a microwave oven or the like, and if it is less than 20% by weight, thermoforming will be difficult and a container with uniform wall thickness will not be obtained.

These antistatic agents and lubricants may be added alone or in combination. The amount added is in the range of 0.05 to 5 parts by weight, preferably in the range of 0.1 to 3 parts by weight, based on a total of 100 parts by weight of the inorganic filler and polyolefin resin. 0.05
If it is less than 1 part by weight, the effect of preventing unpleasant odor will hardly be obtained, and if it is added in excess of 10 parts by weight, the odor of the additive will become strong and cause an unpleasant odor, which is not preferable.

The food packaging container of the present invention can be manufactured in the same manner as the plastic container of -g. For example, polyolefin powder, talc and/or calcium carbonate, a polyolefin antioxidant, an antistatic agent, and/or a lubricant are stirred in a Henschel mixer or the like, pelletized by an extruder, and then fed into an extruder with a T-die to form a sheet. After extruding into a shape, the sheet is thermoformed into a desired shape to produce the food packaging container of the present invention.
