Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking of worn powder to a head slider by coating a lubricating agent consisting of a perfluoroalkyl polyether having the specific structure which possesses the functional group of CH2OH on both sides of the main chain on a carbon protective film of a magnetic recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic Co alloy film 2 is formed by a plating method and sputtering method on a substrate 1 and the carbon protective film 3 is formed by a sputtering method thereon. The perflyuoroalkyl polyether HOCH2- CF2O-(C2F4O)p-(CF2O)q-CH2OH dissolved in a freon solvent is coated thereon so that the film thickness is made about 10Angstrom . The coefft. of friction of the magnetic disk medium prepd. in the above-mentioned manner is small. The worn powder of the carbon protective film is thus eliminated.

気記録媒体に関する。
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium used in large-capacity file devices for computers and the like.

〔従来の技術〕[Conventional technology]

従来、計算機の外部記憶装置に用いられる磁気ディスク
装置は、高性能化する目的でコンタクト・スタート・ス
トップ(以後C8Sと言う)方式を採用している。これ
に用いる薄膜ディスクには磁性膜が磁気ヘッドにより摩
耗、損傷を防ぐ目的で炭素保護膜が形成されている。

〔発明が解決しようとする問題点〕[Problem that the invention seeks to solve]

上述した従来の炭素保護膜は自己潤滑効果により磁性膜
の損傷を防いでいる。しかし、C8S回数が多くなると
、炭素保護膜が摩耗し、ヘッドスライダ−に摩耗粉が付
着し、ヘッドの浮上量が大きくなる欠点がある。ヘッド
の浮上量が大きくなると再生出力および分解能が悪化し
、記録情報が読出せなくなる。

以上のように作製した磁気ディスク媒体をMnZnフェ
ライトのウェンチェスターヘッドを使用し、摩擦係数を
測定した。第2図に従来の炭素保護膜のみの媒体と本発
明の媒体の平均動摩擦係数と静摩擦係数を示す。

_2OHの構造をもつパーフロロアルキルポリエーテル
の潤滑剤を前記炭素保護膜上に塗布したことを特徴とす
る磁気記録媒体。
