Phosphating is carried out particularly in large quantities on steel sheets for automobile bodies. This treatment consists of a first water washing step, a degreasing step, a second washing step, a chemical conversion step for forming a phosphate film, and a third washing step,
The equipment for each process consists of a shower room, riser, pump and storage tank. Among these steps, the degreasing step and the chemical conversion step further require a heating device. The storage tank for the chemical conversion process is equipped with piping such as a coil, and steam or hot water is passed through the piping, or a plate heat exchanger is installed outside the storage tank to exchange heat with steam or hot water to control the temperature. Since the chemical conversion treatment liquid decreases in volume due to evaporation, water is replenished to manage the liquid volume. This method has the disadvantage that sludge in the chemical liquid adheres to the heating coil or heat exchanger, resulting in a significant decrease in heat exchange efficiency.

The above-mentioned object of the present invention is to directly blow steam into the chemical conversion treatment liquid for applying the phosphate film, to overflow the chemical conversion treatment liquid corresponding to the increased liquid volume, and to allow the overflowed liquid to stand still to allow the sludge to settle. This can be achieved by controlling the heating and volume of the chemical conversion treatment liquid by filtering the obtained supernatant liquid and discarding the filtrate containing water as a main component.

The invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the drawings. The figure shows a chemical conversion treatment equipment. The steel objects to be treated are transferred from the shower chamber 1 to the riser 2 and treated with a phosphate solution. The processing liquid enters the lower heating tank 3 and is circulated to the riser 2 by a pump 4.
The heating tank 3 blows steam into the processing liquid to heat it while controlling the steam control valve 6 with a temperature sensor 5. The solution, which has increased as the steam turns into water, passes through the overflow pipe 7 and enters the sludge separation tank 8, and the supernatant liquid passes through the overflow pipe 9 and enters the intermediate tank 10, and the liquid level gauge 1 provided in this tank 10
1, the pump 12 is operated to force the supernatant liquid into the reverse osmosis membrane device 13 to reduce water content, and the solution whose concentration has been restored is returned to the heating tank 3.
