PURPOSE:To make compact the dimensions of an engine in the radial direction of the drive shaft thereof without the dimensions of the engine being increased in the axial direction of the drive shaft, by locating a reduction gear for transmitting the drive force of the engine to cam shafts in a suitable section of the engine. CONSTITUTION:The drive force of a crank shaft 4 as a drive shaft is transmitted to a plurality of cam shafts 5, 6 through a reduction gear 7 by means of a plurality of chains 11, 12.
