Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the slippery characteristic and durability of a windshield pane runner, by forming a foamed rubber layer containing slippery agent on a surface part of a rubber windshield pane runner which is adapted to make into contact with a windshield pane. CONSTITUTION:A foamed layer 5 made of propylene rubber containing slippery agent such as, silicone oil, fluorine oil, paraffin wax or the like, is formed on the inner surface of base bottom part 1 and the opposed surfaces of both lip parts 3 of a windshield pane runner made of ethylene propylene rubber. With this arrangement, a windshield pane may smoothly slide due to the slipper agent and it is possible to enhance the durability of a windshield runner.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Industrial Application Field] The present invention relates to a glass run that is installed along the window frame of an automobile and contacts the outer peripheral edge of the window glass.

[Prior Art] As shown in FIG. 2, a glass run is generally held along a window frame (not shown), and includes a base portion 1 whose inner surface is in contact with the end surface of the window glass 6, and a base portion 1 that extends approximately from both ends of the base portion 1. It consists of side parts 2 extending at right angles and parallel to each other, and lip parts 3 extending inward from the tips of both side parts 2. Calaslan is ethylene
Propylene rubber, which has excellent weather resistance, is often used.

By the way, the inner surface of the base portion 1 of the glass run and the opposing surfaces of both lip portions 3 are required to have smoothness because the window glass 6 that moves up and down moves with them. One way to impart lubricity is to apply a paint containing a lubricant to the glass contact surface.

U Problem to be Solved by the Present Invention 1 However, in this coating film 4, there is a limit to the amount of lubricant, since increasing the amount of lubricant makes the coating brittle. Moreover, the coating film is thin, and especially in the base part 1, it is difficult to coat the window glass. There was a problem that stick-slip occurred when the glass 6 was raised and lowered, and the end face of the glass was locally strongly pressed against the coating film 4, resulting in wear and insufficient durability.

[Operations and Effects] Since the co-foam has voids inside, it can hold a large amount of lubricant, improving the behavior of the glass. Furthermore, when the glass is strongly pressed by stick-slip, the foam layer deforms and the lubricant seeps out from inside, making it more slippery. Therefore, there is less wear and the durability is good.

[Example] As shown in FIG. 1, the glass run body includes a base portion 1, a side portion 2, and a lip portion 3, and is made of EPDM rubber. A foam layer 5 of EPDM rubber impregnated with a lubricant such as silicone oil, fluorine oil or paraffin wax is formed on the inner surface of the base portion 1 in contact with the window glass and on the opposing surfaces of both lip portions 3.

To manufacture the glass run of the present invention, the solid rubber that is to form the glass run body and the sponge rubber that is to form the foam layer 5 are integrally extruded. Next, a puff is applied to the foam layer 5 to roughen the surface so that the internal voids of the foam layer 5 are communicated with the surface, and an organic solvent containing silicone oil, such as a trichloroethane solution, is applied to the foam. Impregnate layer 5. At this time, the foam layer 5 is moistened with a trichloroethane solution, and the solution containing silicone oil penetrates into the interior. By drying, the foam layer 5 returns to its original shape, leaving silicone oil inside.

Further, when the glass is strongly pressed by stick-slip and the foam layer 5 is locally significantly deformed, the lubricant seeps out from inside, making it even more slippery. As described above, the glass run of the present invention has excellent lubricity, especially against stick-slip, so it has less wear and tear.
It also has excellent durability.
