On page 45 of 1959, steel wire (J■5G-3506 hard steel wire) is used as the material for the traveler, and the hardness of the traveler is raised to 620-670. ” is stated. Although I haven't seen many detailed references since then, carbon tools @ (JIS G-4401SK material) are often used as standard spatulas.

When it exceeds 00rpII+, it reaches 600”C (second
), this traveler is usually 300' depending on its material.
If it exceeds C, the hardness decreases rapidly, and the winding tension during spinning also affects the wear, resulting in severe wear and damage to the spun yarn.

000 ~ 18000 rpm) was used for 20
When used for high-speed rotation of 000 rρm or more, the temperature of the traveler reaches as much as 600'C, the hardness of the traveler decreases, and wear rapidly progresses. (See Figure 2) Therefore, there was a desire for a traveler whose hardness does not fall below IRC40 even if the frictional heat temperature of the traveler exceeds 600''C.

Instead, high-speed tool steel is used, this material is drawn into a predetermined cross-sectional shape, further formed into the shape of a traveler, hardened, and then tempered at at least 500'C to 650@C. We have made it possible to obtain a spinning machine ratchet that can withstand high-speed rotation.

Thread winding tension W, balloon tension T and centrifugal force C are applied, and their combined force acts as contact pressure with ring (2). Further, the sliding speed between the traveler (1) and the ring (2) is determined from the rotation speed of the spindle (3) and the ring diameter. This contact pressure and sliding speed generate frictional heat between the ring (2) and the traveler (1). When the spindle (3) rotates at high speed, for example, 25,000"
When p-, the temperature due to friction of the traveler (1) is 60
Although the temperature reaches 0°C, when using the traveler of the present invention, there is no significant decrease in hardness as seen with conventional products.
Less adhesive wear or abrasive wear.

As shown in Figure 1, carbon tool steel (SK material), which has been commonly used in the past, can withstand use up to the traveler's frictional heat temperature of 300"C and is not affected by hardness.
Beyond that, the hardness begins to decrease, and when it reaches 500"C, the hardness becomes HRC43, and when it reaches 600'"C, the hardness becomes HRC34, and the service life of the traveler is only a few hours at most due to wear, making it impossible to use regularly. .

It maintains a hardness of I (RC63-64) even at °C, and has a lifespan of approximately 400 hours even at high speed rotation, allowing travelers to be used regularly.

Or Powdered high speed tool steel B in Use Example 2 above can maintain an HRC of about 62 even when the traveler frictional heat temperature approaches 6000C, as shown in Figure 1, and can withstand long-term use under high speed rotation of the spindle. I was able to get a Traveler. In addition, in order to further extend the life of the traveler material mentioned above, by applying nickel plating, chromium plating, or soft nitriding treatment as a surface treatment to the heat-treated material described above, as shown in Figure 3, it is possible to improve the high speed rotation of the spindle. Made it last for a long time. Furthermore, by applying a solid lubricant treatment such as molybdenum disulfide treatment to the material as it is tempered, or after the above-mentioned surface treatment to the material, it has become possible to further extend the lifespan.
