Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a filter remarkably increased in a filter area by folding one sheet of sheet-like element material and closing in a bellows-shaped folded part wherein inner parts are concentrated and forming a side wall by means of the parts folded in the inside through slits. CONSTITUTION:A filter element 10 is constituted of both a filter face formed by folding an element material 12 and a ring-shaped frame plate 14. The filter face is folded in a bellows-shape by alternately providing chevron folded lines and valley folded lines on the element material 12 consisting of sheet-like filter paper, and providing both end-part folded lines rectangularly crossed to these folded lines and slits cut along the chevron folded lines from respective end-part folded lines. The end parts provided with slit parts are folded into the inside while accompanying contrarotation of the valley folded lines, and opposite end parts thereof are bonded with each other. Then the center parts of the chevron folded lines and the valley folded lines are concentrated and the end faces of the element are bonded with each other and these are bonded to a ring-shaped frame body, and thereby the filter element 10 which is lightweight and low in cost is obtained.

(Prior Art) As a conventional filter element, for example, one used for an automobile air cleaner is schematically shown in FIG. 8. A filter element 2 is formed by an element cord 1 bent into a bellows shape and formed into an annular shape as a whole. The filter element 2 is housed in a cleaner case 3, and the outside air introduced from the air intake port 3a provided on the side wall of the cleaner case 3 is passed through the filter element 2. T.W.
The air flows through the air and is supplied to the intake passage 4 of the internal combustion engine.

By the way, in the 'FJAk method of the filter element 2, two end plates 5.5a are glued to the upper and lower ends of the filter element 2, and air filtration is performed using the end plates 1-5a.
This is done only with the element material 1 between 5.5a and 5a.

However, in the conventional filter element 2 as described above, the weight increases because the end plates 5, 5a are formed of steel plates or the like.
~Since only the side surface of the material 1 is used for filtration, the filtration area of the element cable material 1 is not very large, and if you try to enlarge it, the filter element 2 will inevitably have to be made larger. was there.

As a technique to solve such problems, the 'IJQ method of the filter, in which one end play 1 of the filter element 2 is abolished, and the side surface of the element cord material 1 is also used for filtration, is a special technique. Although disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 37-647/1 and Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-879, these manufacturing methods had problems as explained below.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In other words, in all of the techniques disclosed in the above-mentioned publications, filter elements are manufactured by mixing filter medium fibers in a liquid and spraying or depositing the mixture into a mold. The filter element manufactured by this method has a small layer thickness and density of the filter medium, and although it can be used as a filter for short-term smoke masks, etc., it is not suitable for use in automatic air cleaners, etc. This technology could not be applied directly to filters that would be used continuously for a long period of time.

(Means for Solving the Problems J3 J: Effects) In order to achieve this object, the filter element manufacturing method of the present invention is such that the filter elements are arranged alternately along the longitudinal direction of the rectangular sheet-like element material. A mountain fold line, a valley fold line, a pair of end fold lines provided at both ends perpendicular to these fold lines, and cutting along the mountain fold line between each end fold line and the longitudinal edge of the element material. The element material 1 is folded into a bellows shape along the mountain fold line and the valley fold line, and the end of the element material provided with the slit part is folded with the reversal of the valley fold line. Fold it inward, glue the opposing ends together, and
1. Gather the center portions of the mountain fold line and valley fold line toward the center, and glue the same t faces located at the ends of the element material in the transverse direction to face each other. ill! After the filtration surface is retracted, a ring-shaped frame is attached to either the upper or lower side of the filtration surface.
