Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain seedlings of rice plants having improved growth of roots and suppressed plant height and to grow healthy rice plants having resistance to cold by dipping seeds of rice plants in a solution containing choline or a salt thereof and treating the seeds with ultrasonic waves. CONSTITUTION:Seeds of rice plants are dipped in a solution containing choline or a salt thereof and treated with ultrasonic waves to promote the growth of the rice plant seeds. Examples of the choline salt used include hydrochloride, phosphate, acetate, lactate, etc. A formulation containing such choline or salt thereof is used in the form of powder, emulsion, aqueous or oily suspension, etc. The concentration of the solution containing the choline, etc., is normally 300-3,000ppm, preferably 500-2,000ppm. When the seeds are dipped in the solution containing the choline, etc., the dipping time is preferably 6-24hr. The treatment with the ultrasonic waves for about 2hr is normally carried out 1-5 times.

BACKGROUND ART Conventionally, as a crop growth promoter using seed treatment, promotion of growth of various crops by calcium peroxide treatment is known. The applicant has also filed a patent application for a method of treating seeds with choline salts to promote growth. However, the effect of promoting crop growth by these seed treatments was not necessarily fully exhibited depending on the type of crop seed. The present inventors conducted extensive research on methods for exerting the effect of promoting seed growth, and as a result, discovered an excellent method for treating rice seeds with a seed treatment agent containing choline or choline salts, and developed the present invention. completed.

After sprouting at 32°C for 4 days, the seeds were grown in a greenhouse at 20-25°C for 32 days. In addition, Comparative Example 1 is an example in which the specimen was immersed only in water containing benlate and no ultrasonic treatment was performed, Comparative Example 2 is an example in which the specimen was immersed only in water containing benlate and subjected to ultrasonic treatment, and Comparative Example 3 is an example in which the specimen was immersed in water containing benlate and not subjected to ultrasonic treatment. An example is shown in which the sample was immersed in an aqueous solution containing choline chloride but not subjected to ultrasonic treatment. The test results are shown in Table 1.
