Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise improved seedling of rice plant suppressing height of the seedling, by immersing seed of rice plant in water and treating it with choline or a choline salt in hastening of germination. CONSTITUTION:Seed of rice plant is immersed in water and treated with choline or a choline salt in hastening of germination by a method wherein the seed of rice plant is disinfected, immersed in an aqueous solution of choline or a choline salt (e.g. hydrochloride, phosphate, acetate, citrate, etc.) and heated to carry out hastening of germination (preferably washed with water after forcing of sprouting) to promote growth of the seed. Consequently, roots grow sufficiently, height of seedling can be suppressed and seedling having freeze resistance is obtained. Further rice plant grows soundly.
