回動調整可能な状態でステアリングコラムが車体
側に取付けられ、ステアリングホイールの取付け
角度を上下方向に回動調整可能にしたチルト式の
ステアリング装置において、前記ステアリングコ
ラムを車体側に取付ける前部側ブラケツトおよび
後部側のチルトブラケツトと対応させて前記ステ
アリングコラムにガイドブラケツトをそれぞれ設
け、これらのガイドブラケツトの後端部位に前記
ステアリングシヤフトの軸方向に沿う方向に延設
されたガイド溝を設けるとともに、前部側ブラケ
ツトおよび後部側のチルトブラケツトに常時は前
記ガイドブラケツトのガイド溝内に挿入状態で保
持され、前記ステアリングコラムに後端部側から
衝撃力が加えられた非常時に前記ガイドブラケツ
トのガイド溝から離脱する係脱ピンをそれぞれ設
け、かつ前記チルトブラケツトと前記ガイドブラ
ケツトとの間に前記係脱ピンが前記ガイドブラケ
ツトのガイド溝から離脱した際に前記ステアリン
グコラムを扱いて前記ステアリングコラムに作用
する衝撃力を吸収する衝撃吸収部材を設けたこと
