Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the shape holdability of a hollow seal lip and the door closability thereof, by forming a narrow section in a weather strip on the seal surface side of a retainer flange support groove formed in the connecting section between the base section and seal surface of the weather strip. CONSTITUTION:When a door is closed, a torsional deformation brought about in the corner section of a hollow seal lip 7B by an opening edge section 3a induces an elastic deformation in the hollow seal lip 7 outward of a vehicle about an inner concave groove 12 in a narrow section 11 so that the seal lip 7B takes a position as indicated by the one-dot chain line, and then, the seal surface part 16A of the corner section is made in close contact with the the opening edge section 3a so that the seal lip 7B returns to a position as indicated by the solid line from the position as indicated by the one-dot chain line. With this arrangement a buckling section 14 is subjected to a dog-leg like elastic deformation while it moves outward of the vehicle about the narrow section 11, and therefore, the seal lip 7B may offer a whole surface contact condition under a suitable sealing reaction force, thus the shape holdability of the hollow seal lip and the door-closability thereof may be enhanced.

ナ部を幅広に成形したり、ドアウェザストリップ2のコ
ーナ部分にコーナピースを用いたりしているが、前者に
あってはドア閉時Iこドアせツ/ユ1bが開口縁部3a
に干渉する所謂メタルタッチを生じ易くなり、後者にあ
ってはドアウェザストリップ2の製造や組付けが面倒に
なってしまう。
