Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of roll marks by providing a double-chock bending device to the axial end of a work roll and supporting horizontally the roll by bringing short-body rolls into contact with the middle part of the roll. CONSTITUTION:Both axial ends of a work roll 1 are mounted on chocks 2, 3 respectively, and horizontal cylinders 4, 5 are connected to the chocks respectively by directing the cylinders 4, 5 to mutually opposite directions. Further, proper mumber of short-body rolls 6 are arranged at desired intervals at the middle part of work roll 1 to connect a cylinder 7 to each roll 6. When the roll 1 is provided with horizontal bending, the roll 1 is bent in the form of double bending system by operating respective cylinders 4, 5; and further, the rolls 6 are brought into contact with the middle part of roll 1 in accordance with the deflection curve of roll 1 by operating each cylinder 7 separately. In this way, the contacting surface pressure of each short-body roll 6 is reduced, and the generation of roll mark is also reduced.
