Abstract
PURPOSE:To apply a vertical bending force to the sheet in order to straighten its shape and to improve its quality, by transversely displacing upper and lower work rolls, whose roll centers are shifted to the run-out side in respect of the center line connecting centers of upper and lower backup rolls. CONSTITUTION:At straightening the shape of the material sheet 13 between upper and lower work rolls 7, 8, the tapered wedges 31, 32, are vertically moved by a cylinder or the like; hereby, the push plates 29, 30, push the journals 27, 28, in order to transversely displace upper and lower backup rolls 11, 12. Hereupon, the centers of upper and lower work rolls 7, 8, are shifted to the run-out side of the rolling mill in respect of the impression line connecting centers of upper and lower backup rolls 3, 5, and upper and lower intermediate rolls 17, 18; then, these upper and lower work rolls 7, 8, are transversely displaced by above-mentioned transverse displacement of upper and lower backup rolls 11, 12, through upper and lower push rolls 9, 10; hereby, a vertical bending force is applied to the work rolls 7, 8. At the same time, the roll benders 19, 20, of intermediate rolls 17, 18, also apply a bending force to work rolls 7, 8; hereby, the shape of the sheet 13 is straightened.
