PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption of an urgency broadcast receiver, by supplying electric power to the power amplifying circuit of the receiver when the pilot of urgency broadcast is received. CONSTITUTION:When the first pilot signal is received by receiving circuit 1, this signal sets flip-flop FF through gate G1. Conseqently, transistor Q4 and switching circuit 9 are turned on, and electric power is supplied to power amplifier 5, and urgency information is applied to amplifying circuit 5 through receiving circuit 1 and transistors Q3 and Q4 to sound the speaker. When the second pilot signal is received, this signal resets FF through gate G2, and the receiving unit is returned to the original state. The second pilot signal is transmitted at the end of urgency information.
