Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a corrosion resistant Ag alloy consisting of prescribed percentage of Pt and/or Au and one or more among Zn, Sn and In and the balance Ag and having superior corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. CONSTITUTION:This corrosion resistant G alloy consists of 5-15wt% Pt and/or Au, 5-10wt% one or more among Zn, Sn and In and the balance Ag. The Ag alloy has considerably improved corrosion resistance because it contains Pt and/or Au. Zn, Sn and In increase the hardness and mechanical strength. The Ag alloy does not tarnich even in an atmosphere contg. human sweat, NaCl or the like, and the surface is hardly scratched. The Ag alloy has a high-grade surface state similar to that of a white noble metal.

In the corrosion-resistant silver alloy of the present invention, if PL and Au are contained in an amount of 5 to 15% by weight alone or in combination, if it is less than 5% by weight, no improvement in corrosion resistance can be expected, and if it exceeds 15% by weight, although corrosion resistance will be improved. This is because it is expensive and cannot be put to practical use.

The purpose of adding it is to increase mechanical strength and hardness, improve wear resistance, and make it less likely to be scratched without damaging the corrosion resistance and color tone of Ag. If it is less than 5% by weight, the effect will not be fully realized. First, if it exceeds 10% by weight, processability will deteriorate.

Next, the alloys of Example No. 3 were melted and cast by high-frequency induction heating, cold-rolled to create a plate material with a thickness of 3.5 mm, which was then press punched and then cold stamped. A blank was prepared, and after annealing at 550° C. 2 +1r, finishing stamping was performed. Next, by polishing this to create a watch case with a mirror-finished surface, a white case with excellent gloss was obtained. In the commonly conducted corrosion resistance tests (i.e., immersion tests, etc.), this case showed properties comparable to those of cases made of stainless steel, nickel silver, or brass with 20% gold alloy plating. It had a precious metal-like, high-class appearance that is difficult to obtain.
