Conventionally, water-absorbing paper, pulverized pulp, and water-absorbing polymers have been generally used as materials constituting the menstrual blood absorber of this type of napkin. However, water-absorbing paper is made from pulp and has been added with crepe, and is soft, has a high water absorption rate, and quickly absorbs menstrual blood, and also has good diffusivity due to capillary action, but when it absorbs water, it becomes dry. The attached crepe stretches and loses its bulk, and the water-absorbing papers stick to each other and lose their elasticity. Pulverized pulp is made by mechanically defibrating pulp sheets and laminating them. Although it is very soft and absorbs a lot of water, it has a low water absorption rate and poor dispersibility. Furthermore, it does not absorb water much like water-absorbing paper. , it loses bulk and becomes less elastic. Water-absorbing polymers absorb and retain much more water than water-absorbing paper and pulverized pulp, but they have problems with water absorption speed, diffusivity, and elasticity after water absorption.

In particular, if the absorbent material has poor elasticity after absorbing water, the napkin will twist and become narrow during use, causing leakage of menstrual blood. Recently, there is a trend towards ultra-thin napkins, but if ultra-thin napkins lack elasticity, they will not be able to achieve their intended purpose.

In the figure, 1 indicates the entire napkin of the present invention. The napkin 1 shown in the second figure is made by covering a foam 2 made of a PVA derivative or polyurethane and having restoring elasticity with a water-absorbing polymer sheet 3, which is then wrapped with a waterproof sheet 4 except for the center part of the upper surface, and the whole is made waterproof. - It is covered with a water-permeable sheet 5, and its both short sides 5a are joined by means such as thermocompression bonding or welding.

The napkin 1 shown in the third figure is the same as that shown in the second figure, except that instead of the water-absorbing polymer sheet 3, a fibrous web, preferably a hydrophobic fibrous web 6, is placed on the upper surface of the foam 2.

The foam 2 may be in the form of a sheet or in the form of small chips, but when pressure is applied to it in a water-absorbing state, it tends to release moisture. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 1, the foam 2 is wrapped in a polymer sheet 3 to prevent moisture once absorbed by the foam 2 from seeping out onto the napkin surface even if pressure is applied.

The foam 2 preferably has a foaming ratio of 5 times or more and has open cells to absorb a large amount of water.
The polymer sheet 3 may be one in which water-absorbing polymer powder is integrally sandwiched between water-permeable sheets in the shape of a sandwich, or one in which it is mixed with pulverized pulp and compressed to form a sheet.
When it is insoluble in water and absorbs water, it swells and becomes gel-like.
It has the ability to absorb and retain water more than 20 times its own weight.

As mentioned above, the napkin of the present invention uses a foam that has at least restoring elasticity as a material to achieve menstrual blood absorption, and even if this foam absorbs water, it will not absorb water like the conventional absorbent material mentioned above. Since the napkin does not lose its elasticity, it will not twist or lose its shape during use, and even if this happens temporarily depending on the usage conditions, it will recover, and this will prevent menstrual blood from leaking due to twisting or losing its shape. It never occurs. Therefore, the present invention can be put to practical use as an ultra-thin napkin and is extremely useful.
