Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform hot stamping with ease, speedily and inexpensively without using metallic dies or printing plates, by pressing, under heat, a hot stamping foil against the surface of a printed matter obtained by copying through adhering a toner by a copying machine. CONSTITUTION:In the copying machine, a netatively charged particulate toner is blown to an image surface positively charged by irradiation with light, the resultant toner image is transferred onto a paper or the like, which is passed through a heated roll heated to about 180 deg.C for 0.2-0.5sec to fix the toner to the paper or the like, thereby printing. Therefore, a hot stamping foil can be transferred onto a printed matter obtained by copying, by placing a hot stamping foil on the surface of the printed matter and then passing the printed matter together with the foil through a heated roll so that the toner is softened. In this case, the treatment by the heated roll may be performed by passing the printed matter with the foil again through a heated roll incorporated in the copying machine, or may be performed by use of a heated roll for exclusive use in hot stamping, or by hot pressing by using a flat plate with a silicone rubber adhered thereto, whereby the foil can be transferred to the surface of the printed matter.

Conventionally, hot stamping is carried out on transfer materials such as paper or plastic films by placing hot stamp foil on the surface of the transfer material and then transferring the foil by pressing it with a heated metal mold. It has been. However, this method requires a mold for the image to be transferred, but this mold is not only expensive but also time-consuming to manufacture, and cannot be used in urgent cases. In addition, since it is pressed by a mold, although the transfer surface is slight,
It had the disadvantage of being concave. Therefore, a method is proposed in which a desired shape is printed using printing ink or the adhesive side, hot stamp foil that does not adhere to the substrate but can be transferred to the printed surface is placed on top of it, and the image is transferred using a heated roll, etc., as disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 56-9708 It has become publicly known. With this method, there is no risk of the printed surface becoming concave, but since screen printing is usually used for printing, it takes time to prepare the stencil and dry the printed material. There was a drawback that it took a while.

The present invention aims to correct the above-mentioned drawbacks, and its purpose is to transfer hot stamp foil onto the surface of printed matter copied by a copying machine without using a mold or printing plate. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for transferring hot stamp foil by which real stamping can be performed simply, quickly, and at low cost.

The present invention focuses on the fact that the 1-toner used for printing in copying machines contains a large amount of heat-softening resin, and uses the toner as a binder to transfer hot stamp foil onto the printing surface. This is something that can be directly incorporated into stamp work.

In a copying machine, the image surface is positively charged by light,
After spraying a negatively charged powdered toner and transferring it to paper, etc., the toner is passed through a heated roll heated to around 180°C for 0.2 to 0.5 seconds to fix the toner on the paper surface. The method is to print it out. Therefore, when printed matter is copied, if hot stamp foil is placed on the surface and passed through a hot roll, the toner softens and
Foil can be transferred in the same manner as the technique disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 9708. In this case, the heat roll may be passed through the heat roll built into the copying machine again, or a heat roll made specifically for the real stamp may be used, or a flat plate covered with silicone rubber may be used. The image can be transferred by hot pressing.

Printed matter copied by a copying machine can be heat-transferred with foil, but general copying toner is ink made by mixing carbon blank with resin, but hot stamp foil is not as good as ink. Due to their tendency to corrode, it is advantageous to use toners made with colored pigments rather than ink toners for transfer purposes. Further, when a copying machine is used only for transferring hot stamp foil, it is not necessary to use a colored toner, but rather a colorless to white or light-colored toner should be used. Such toners are made of polyamide resin, polyester resin,
It can be made by mixing powder of synthetic resin such as epoxy resin, acrylic resin, vinylidene chloride resin, etc. and a small amount of pigment.

Further, the hot stamp foil used in the present invention does not stick to a base material such as paper, but requires the use of a special foil that transfers only to the toner. Such foil is generally a foil coated with a heat-sensitive adhesive for plastics, and for example, special transfer foil for Xerox marketed by Murata Kinpaku Co., Ltd. is particularly effective.

Example 1 To make a New Year's card, I wrote Happy New Year, address, name, etc. on a piece of paper with a brush using ink, placed it in the manuscript hole of a Fuji Xerox 2970 machine, used black toner, and machined a government postcard from the Gio cassette. I sent it inside and copied it. So, I removed the manuscript from the manuscript hall goo, placed Murata Kinpaku Co.'s special transfer foil No. 5 gold only on the Happy New Year letters on the copied postcard, secured the edges with sellotape, and fed the prepared postcard from the paper cassette again. When the transfer foil was removed from the postcard that came out of the copy receiver, only the words Happy New Year were transferred in gold using hot stamp foil.

As described above, since the present invention is a method of placing a real stamp transfer foil on a printed matter copied by a copying machine and thermally transferring it, the original document may be a mere printed matter, and a mold or mold for the transfer is required. There is no need for printing plates, and even an amateur can transfer easily, so if you have a copying machine and transfer foil suitable for it, you can transfer quickly and easily, even in small-scale production or mass production, and it is inexpensive. This has the effect of significantly expanding the range of demand.
