Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable expression with high degree of freedom wherein a print expression free of metallic feeling or a colored transparent expression is synchronized and matched to a print expression accompanied by metallic feeling, by providing a vapor-deposited metallic part and a pattern by independent steps. CONSTITUTION:After providing a releasable layer 2 on a base film 1 as required, a strippable layer 3 is provided, and then a water-soluble resin layer 4 is partially provided. A vapor-deposited metallic layer is provided on the entire surface of the resultant material, followed by washing with water to dissolve away the resin, thereby obtaining a vapor-deposited metallic part 5 left in a pattern. Then, a pattern layer 6 in an arbitrary shape and a transparent adhesive layer 7 are sequentially provided to obtain a partially vapor-deposited transfer foil for back side transfer. The pattern layer 6 can be synchronized and matched to the vapor-deposited part and other parts by an additional printing registration device. The step of providing the vapor-deposited part and the step of providing the pattern are independent from each other, so that it is made possible to obtain a print expression with a high degree of freedom.

The most common method is to use a raw material with a release layer and an aluminum vapor-deposited layer on the entire surface in advance, print any pattern on it with alkali-resistant ink, and then wash it with alkaline to remove any inks other than the ink. By dissolving and removing the aluminum vapor deposited portion 1, and then applying a transparent adhesive, it is possible to obtain a backside transfer foil in which the pattern and the vapor deposited portion are completely synchronized. However, a drawback of this method is that a vapor deposited layer always remains under the pattern ink area, making it impossible to express without a metallic effect or transparently colored.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> The present invention solves the above problems (i.e., synchronizes the printing expression without metallic feel or colored transparent expression with the printing expression with metallic feeling in partially vapor-deposited transfer foil for back side transfer). This provides a method for manufacturing backside transfer foils in which the foils are mixed while being aligned.

Metals are vapor-deposited on the entire surface, and then washed with water to dissolve and remove the water-soluble resin, resulting in a metal-deposited portion (5) remaining in a pattern as shown in FIG. 1(b). Next, as shown in FIG. 1e+, a pattern layer (6) of an arbitrary shape and a transparent adhesive layer (7) are formed on top of each other to obtain the desired partially vapor-deposited transfer foil for back side transfer. The pattern layer (6) can be co-registered to the deposited and non-deposited parts by a residual registration device.

In addition, the release layer and/or release layer may be optionally used.
In some cases, a pattern layer with an arbitrary shape is formed by printing, but in this case, the result is that the printed pattern layer is placed in front of the metal vapor deposited layer, and the hue of the m portion of this printed pattern is the same as that of the metal behind it. Combined with the light reflected from the vapor deposited layer, various metallic effects such as gold, silver, copper, and bronze are expressed.

According to the method of the present invention, after partially providing a water-soluble portion by any means, a metal vapor deposited layer is formed on the entire surface, and then the metal vapor deposited layer in the water soluble portion is washed with water. After removal, any pattern is printed while adjusting the pattern as needed, so the process of applying the metal vapor deposition area and the pattern are independent, allowing for a high degree of freedom in printing expression. Furthermore, with regard to the same alignment of the partially deposited layer and the pattern, printing accuracy sufficient for practical use can be obtained as the registration device becomes more precise.

- Example 2 A release layer was provided on the surface of a 25 μm thick PET film, and then a water-soluble resin containing polyvinyl alcohol as a main component was applied to the entire surface. Next, a pattern corresponding to the metal-deposited area was printed using ink containing incyanate resin. Next, aluminum was deposited on the entire surface to a thickness of about 45 OA, and then washed with water to remove the aluminum deposited layer in areas other than the ink containing the isocyanate resin. After drying the sheet, a pattern matching the vapor-deposited layer and non-vapor-deposited layer 1 was printed using a gravure printing machine equipped with a residual registration device, and a transparent adhesive layer was further provided on the entire surface. <Effects of the Invention> According to the method of manufacturing the partially vapor-deposited transfer foil for back side transfer of the present invention, the metal vapor-deposited part and the pattern layer can be applied in separate processes, safely and inexpensively, without using acid or alkaline solutions. Therefore, it is possible to create an extremely flexible design expression, and it is an excellent product that mixes printing expressions without a metallic feel, colored transparent expressions, and printing expressions with a metallic feeling in equal coordination. A partially vapor-deposited transfer foil for back side transfer can be obtained.
