Of course, this type of packaging is impractical and too bulky if only a few packages are needed for travel. For this reason, one-piece packaging bodies for this type of sanitary hygiene products have recently been developed. This type of one-piece packaging is disclosed in West German Patent Publication No. 3146.
No. 067, one end is folded over the center part.
It is made up of folded plastic film.

The side edges of these end portions, ordered as a result of this folding, are welded together to form a storage pocket into which the folded disposable article can be inserted. The other end of the packaging film acts as a sealing cover to cover this pocket.
This end portion is also welded along its edge to the edge of the pocket. The cover thus produced is provided with a countersunk adhesive bead by which the pocket can be resealed after the package has been opened.

For this purpose, there is a great need for a one-piece packaging bag that can be used as a service bag to store the used item after it has been used. However, hygroscopic disposable articles are relatively bulky, and therefore, it is necessary to make the body as compact as possible, which of course affects the packaging process. However, so far it has not been possible to combine the above objectives with the need to make the package large enough to be used as a service bag for such items.

However, the problems outlined above have been completely solved by the present invention. The main feature of the packaging according to the invention is that the packaging consists of one or more one-piece packets with intermediate perforations, each one-piece packet being designed as a bag of liquid-impermeable material; After opening and removal of the items contained therein, the bag can be stretched by expanding pleats or the like provided in at least one of the walls so that the bag can accommodate the used items.

In Figure 1g1, numeral 1 indicates a sanitary napkin to be packaged, and 2 indicates a plastic film serving as a packaging blank. The sanitary napkin is provided with an adhesive coating that contacts the plastic film and holds the napkin in place on the side facing the wearer's underpants during use. This coating may consist of a hot melt, for example, but is not shown in the drawing.

is folded around each side edge onto the opposite side of the sanitary napkin l. In the illustrated embodiment, the edges of the side portions folded around the napkin extend generally toward and from each other. The longitudinal beads 8, 9 of tightening agent, preferably hot melt, are then folded into transverse sections 4.5.
When applied close to the edge of the napkin l, the napkin l is folded together with the packaging blank 2 about the lateral center line. This state is indicated by arrow A in Figure 2.

It is shown by B. The two halves produced by the folding are compressed and adhesive beads 8.9 join the napkin and the packaging blank to form a tight packaging. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of this unit. After folding, the packaging unit is preferably sealed by welding both end portions 6.7. The perforation holes 10 are simultaneously provided inside the welded portion.

To remove the napkin 1, it is necessary to tear it along the perforations 10. Owing to the side part 4.5 folded towards the entry side, the packaging blank 2 seals tightly around the napkin l, so that the napkin cannot be immediately pulled out of the opened packaging. Instead, the napkin comes out by turning the wrapper inside out. Folded side part 4
.. The folds of the package wall formed by 5 stretch and widen one after another. As the packaging blank is pulled back from the napkin in this way, the empty packaging blank becomes a bag, which is considerably smaller in size than when it was used as a packaging for napkin 1. big. The resulting bag is large enough to hold used napkins. Therefore, 8g! The body blank 2 is useful not only as a sealed package for a compact package unit, but also as a large service bag for storing used napkins.

The packaging blank 2 is formed from a continuous web of material that is advanced. This packaging blank 2 is first provided with longitudinal seams and pleats 11 by folding its longitudinal central portion. This folded quag is then coated with a longitudinally applied release strip 3 extending along both sides of the folds and abdominal folds, resulting in an adhesive bead 1.
2. The sanitary napkins l provided with 13 are stacked on the packaging blank 2 at equal intervals. Orientation of folding while using a napkin! The adhesive beads 12, 13, which serve as the primary retainer, are then applied to the adhesive coating 3.

As shown in FIG. 10, the side pieces 14'15 of the package blank extending laterally beyond the napkin are folded around the napkin with their overlapping edges glued by hot melt beads 16. The packaging blank for a large number of napkins is finally welded at 17 between each napkin and separated at the same time to form each 11 napkin.
5! A separate one-piece package, suitably perforated 18, is formed. The 8 compartment can be conveniently opened along this perforation hole to take out the napkin. After removing the napkin, the package can be easily expanded by expanding the folds 11 provided on one wall of the empty bag.

According to this embodiment, packaging blanks 2 having relatively wide dimensions are continuously fed along a conveyor belt (not shown), and sanitary napkins 1 arranged at equal intervals are produced as shown in FIG. The binder bead 12 of the napkin is stacked on the packaging blank 2 against the portion of the blank 2 that is coated with a peel-off. After the package has been folded as described above, it is folded together with the individual napkins and separated by cutting between each adjacent napkin in one piece as shown in Figure 15. @ As clearly shown in Figure 15, the bottom part of the packaging blank 2 folded around the napkin extends slightly laterally outward from the top part as shown by numeral 19, and extends to this long part. A hot melt bead 20 is applied. The blank part that extends beyond the napkin is folded onto the napkin, after which the package is affixed by the M melt bead 20.
It is sealed as shown in Figure 6. When opening the package made in this way, a larger bag is obtained which can be used as a service bag for used napkins.

For example, packages similar to the embodiments shown in FIGS. 43 and 4 may be implemented in ways other than those described with respect to FIGS. 1 and 2. If a plastic web with the same width as shown in Figure 1 is used as a substrate with respect to the width of the napkin, instead of folding and sealing the package as described in Figure @2, a very large bag in terms of napkins can be obtained. The wrapper blank and napkin could be folded about the lateral centerline of the napkin and then welded or electrically connected to the side edges of the napkin and the wrapper blank. The bag portion thus extending laterally beyond the napkin can also be folded into the space between the two halves of the folded napkin to achieve a package similar to that of FIG.

To obtain a package of the type disclosed in Figure 3, a folded napkin is inserted completely into the center of the wide bag and the part of the bag extending beyond the napkin is folded between the napkin halves. Of course, this can be achieved by doing this.
