In seal devices such as mechanical seals and labyrinth seals, threads are sometimes formed on rotating parts or on the inner periphery of the casing in order to improve the sealing performance. For example, in the case of mechanical seals, a proposal was made to improve the sealing performance by providing a thread on the outer circumferential surface of the rotating ring in Utility Model Application No. 53-40693.
-143962) and Utility Application No. 160632 (1983)
-81262) by the applicant.
As for labyrinth seals, there is known a threaded rotary labyrinth seal that obtains sealing pressure by forming threads on the outer circumferential surface of the rotating shaft or on the outer circumferential surface of the rotating shaft and the inner circumferential surface of the casing.

However, when cutting the main body of the sealing device, there is a waste of material due to the cutting allowance, and the cutting process causes a decrease in strength. Another disadvantage is that it takes a lot of time to cut the screws to form them well, and the screws are difficult to repair and cannot be replaced.

This string-like body consists of a string-like body 1, a spacer 2, an adhesive 3, and a film 5. The main body 1 is made of a flexible material, and can be made of spring steel, stainless steel, bronze, etc., plastics such as Teflon or nylon, inorganic materials such as carbon fiber or silicon carbide fiber, and combinations thereof with plastics, depending on the sealing device applied. Use composite materials, etc. Although the cross-sectional shape of the main body 1 is square in this embodiment, it may be of any shape such as circular, semicircular, triangular, or trapezoidal. A spacer 2 is provided on the side of the main body 1. Although the spacer 2 has a rectangular cross section in this example, it is not limited to this and may have any shape. The thickness or height of the main body 1 is determined by the required height of the thread. Spacer 2 is
Like the main body 1, it is made of a flexible material.
The spacer 2 is thinner than the main body 1, and has a gap at a constant interval on the side 10 of the main body 1 which is fixed to the sealing device. The spacer 2 is detachably attached to the main body 1. In the example shown in FIG. 1, the outer peripheral surfaces of the main body 1 and the spacer 2 are connected by a film 6 coated with an adhesive 4, so that they are removably attached. In the example shown in FIG. 2, an adhesive 4' is applied to the joining surfaces of the main body 1 and the spacer 2 to directly connect them. The width of the spacer 2 is determined by the required thread pitch. An adhesive 3 is provided on the fixed surface side 10 of the main body 1, and a film 5 is placed on top of the adhesive 3.
is pasted. This adhesive 3 may be in the form of a film, or may be applied in liquid form.

Next, a method of forming a thread using this string-like body will be explained using a threaded labyrinth seal as an example. First, the thickness of the main body 1 and the width of the spacer 2 are adjusted to the required depth and pitch of the thread. Next, as shown in FIG. 3, the film 5 is peeled off to expose the adhesive 3, which is then wrapped and fixed around the rotating shaft 50 with the adhesive 3 facing down without leaving any gaps. Then, when the film 6 is peeled off and the spacer 2 is removed, only the main body 1 remains and a thread is formed. The depth of this thread is determined by the thickness of the main body 1, and the pitch thereof is determined by the width of the spacer 2.

Note that it is also possible to use a method in which fixing with the adhesive 3 is temporarily fixed, and after removing the spacer 2, the string-like body main body 1 and the side to be fixed are fixed by welding or the like.

FIG. 4 is a sectional view of a labyrinth seal in which a thread is formed by a string-like body. In this example, the casing 51 is also formed with a thread. Further, FIG. 5 shows an example in which a thread is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary ring 52 of a mechanical seal.

As explained above, according to the present invention, the threads can be formed without cutting, which makes manufacturing easy, improves accuracy, and does not reduce the strength of the device body. Since there is no need to allow for cutting allowance, there is no waste of material and it is economical.
In addition, since the depth and pitch of the thread can be determined by the thickness of the string-like body and the width of the spacer, any depth or pitch can be determined.
It can be made tight. Furthermore, it has excellent effects such as easy repair and replacement of the threads.
