Abstract

PURPOSE:To feed and attach ink stably to the wire tip by forming a gap between a wire guide and an ink induction member in the assembly so as to communicate with an ink tank through a groove of the induction member. CONSTITUTION:With a energization of a coil 9, a plunger 7 is attracted as opposed to a coil core 8 and a clapper 6 turns to make a wire 1 stick out. The tip face of the wire pierces an ink meniscus and hits a recording paper putting ink thereon to transfer it onto a recording paper. Since the tip face of the wire 1 is located inward from the end face of a wire guide 3 and the ink meniscus is formed ahead of the wire tip face, with the lifting and sinking of the wire, ink attaches sequentially to the wire tip face. The width and depth of an induction groove 2a is set at a proper value from an ink tank 4 to the wire guide 3 to cause an appropriate capillary action thereby enabling the introduction of ink by amount only required for printing without overflow.

<Prior art> As seen in US Pat. No. 4,194,846, a method of supplying ink from an ink tank to the tip of a wire involves guiding the ink from the tank using a member made of a porous material that has ink absorbing properties, and then the wire passes through the porous material. There are known methods of configuring the device so that it comes into contact with the device. In this method, the hole diameters of the micropores forming the porous negative control vary within a certain range and are not uniform, resulting in large individual differences in ink absorbency, which tends to cause over- or under-supply of ink to the tip of the wire. Furthermore, the amount of ink held near the tip of the wire not only varied widely, but also was unstable because the dimensions of the porous material were likely to change or deform due to the 4H interaction with the side surface of the wire. This has the disadvantage that the dot performance becomes unstable.

Also known is a method of supplying ink from an ink tank to the tip of a wire using a positive pump, as shown in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 57-32989. In this method, the structure of the connection part between the pump and the head is complicated. It has disadvantages such as increased cost, the need for sufficient sealing in order to obtain sufficient pump performance, and the need for a drive source with large torque to drive the pump.In the case of multicolor heads, 1 'The structure is quite complicated and it is difficult to apply it to small heads.

r9 and the depth of the ink guide groove 2α are set to appropriate values to stably supply ink from the ink tank 12. A circumferential groove 2b is provided at the front of the ink supply guide 2, and is connected to an ink guiding groove 2α at an inner portion 2c. Circumferential groove 2
The wire guide 3 is incorporated in h, and gaps shown by A and B are provided by the combination of the two. Furthermore, the gap between the wire 1 and the wire guide hole 3a of the wire guide 3 is small, and the ink flows from the ink tank 4 to the ink guide groove 2α of the ink supply guide 2, and between the wire guide 3 and the MA.
In this embodiment, the four-color wire drive device is guided by capillary force to the tip of the wire 1 through B, and includes a yoke 1o having a coil core 8 around which a coil 9 is wound, a yoke plate 11, and a plunger 7.
A magnetic circuit is constructed. The movement of the plunger 7 is transmitted to the wire 1 via the clapper 6. The wire driving device described above is covered by a cover 14 and the operating length of the clapper B is regulated. The distal end surface of the wire is located further back than the distal end surface of the wire guide 3, and is located in the wire guide hole 3α.
The wire length is set so that the menscus of ink formed at the front portion of the wire covers the tip surface of the wire.

Next, the operation will be explained. It is necessary to energize coil 9.
, J: l) The plunger 7 facing the coil core 8 is attracted. As a result, the clapper 6 to which the plunger 7 is fixed rotates, and the wire 1 to be engaged at its tip protrudes. The tip end surface of the wire pierces the ink tank, causes ink to adhere to the tip end surface, and collides with the recording paper, so that the ink is transferred to the recording paper. In the wire standby state, the distal end surface of the wire 1 is located inside the end surface of the wire guide 3, and an inktance scum is formed in front of the wire distal end surface, so that ink sequentially adheres to the wire distal end surface as the wire moves in and out.

In the above head structure, by setting the width and depth of the ink guide groove 2α to appropriate values from the ink tank 4 to the wire guide 3, an appropriate amount of capillary action is exerted to prevent ink from overflowing and only the amount required for printing is achieved. Let the ink guide you! - can be done. Also, the wire guide 32
The gap between the ink supply guides 2 can also be dimensioned to provide ink supply and ink retention by capillary action. The dimensions of these ink guide paths depend on the shape accuracy of the parts, but since the component parts have shapes that can be easily processed with high precision by molding etc., their precision is high and the head structure according to the present invention has a stable ink supply ability. has. It is also easy to assemble because it consists of a small number of parts.

Further, in the head of the present invention, the amount of ink absorbed into the ink guiding path system is smaller than that of the head using a porous material as described in the conventional example. Therefore, the amount of ink absorbed and not used for printing is reduced, and the ink in the ink tank can be effectively used for printing.

In addition, for the same reason, even if the ink becomes highly viscous or solidified due to running out of ink in the tank or drying at high temperatures, the ink can quickly reach the tip of the wire by attaching the ink tank. It also has the effect that printing can be resumed once the printing has been reached.
