Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an edge winding-up section from recklessly running, and as well to prevent bad affection to wound-up articles, by providing such an arrangement that a detecting means detects breakage of the edge when the edge is cut off, and a detection signal from the detecting means causes the drive of a slitter to be stopped. CONSTITUTION:A control device 9 compares the winding-up speed of an edge with a signal from a rotational speed detector 13, indicating the winding-up speed of the edge, and therefore, the breakage of the edge 3 is detected when the rotational speed of an edge winding-up roll 5 becomes greater than, by a predetermined amount, the conveying speed of a sheet-like material, that is, the edge is cut off. A signal 10 is delivered to a drive control device 11 which therefore stops the drive of the slitter. Accordingly, the reckless running of the edge winding-up roll 5 may be beforehand prevented, and therefore, no broken edges are wound up, in a large amount, onto a press-contact roll 6 and/or a carrier roll 12.

In conventional sheet slitter, the sheet is wound up while being cut into products of a predetermined width and edges on both sides.
The width of the edge is generally narrower than the product, and in a slitter, the sheet is usually wound while traversing from side to side to cover uneven thickness of the product, resulting in unevenness in the edge. It is difficult to wind up while pressing. Therefore, edge winding is usually performed with the edge winding roll floating above the contact pressure roll.

However, in this type of edge winding, the edge between the edge winding roll and the contact pressure roll is not restrained by the roll and travels in the air, so it is not affected by the impact force from the edge winding drive system. It becomes more susceptible to winding and becomes more susceptible to breakage.Especially when starting up, a shocking winding torque is likely to occur, so the impact tension builds up on the edge, causing excessive stress and causing the edge to break.Furthermore, edge winding Normally, the winding tension is not precisely controlled during the product winding process.
Excessive tension may be momentarily applied to the edge, which may cause the edge to break during winding. Furthermore, when the sheet is traversed from side to side during winding, the edge width also fluctuates between the narrow width and the wide width, so that when the width becomes narrow, the tension may become excessive and cause the sheet to break. Furthermore, the edge surface of the sheet may be damaged during handling before slitting, and if tension is applied to the damaged edge, stress will be concentrated and the sheet will be more likely to break.

When an edge breaks, the load on the edge take-up drive system, whose rotation was previously restricted by the edge, suddenly decreases, causing the inconvenience of the edge take-up unit running out of control, and the broken edge being damaged by the transport roll or contact pressure roll. If the slitter is driven as it is, the wound product will be misaligned or wrinkled, resulting in the product being rejected.

Structure and operation of the invention The slitter control method of the present invention in accordance with this objective is a slitter that cuts and winds a sheet material into a product of a predetermined width and edges on both sides, and when the edges are cut during winding. This method consists of a method in which edge breakage is detected by an edge breakage detection means and driving of the slitter is stopped based on the detection signal.

In such a control method, edge breakage is detected as soon as it occurs, and at the same time the slitter is decelerated and the drive is stopped, the drive of the edge take-up unit is also stopped and runaway is prevented in advance. Even if the cut edge wraps around the conveyor roll or pressure roll, the drive is stopped before it wraps around in large quantities, preventing any negative impact on the product. Further, since the drive is stopped by the edge breakage detection signal, the operator does not have to constantly monitor the edge breakage, and inconveniences due to edge breakage can be easily prevented by issuing an alarm or automatically stopping the drive of the slitter.

In the method according to the first embodiment of the present invention, the control device 9
Then, the edge winding speed calculated from the rotation speed of the edge winding roll 5 and the edge winding roll diameter calculated from the winding length, etc. is compared with the signal of the sheet conveyance speed from the rotation speed detector 13. When the rotational speed of the edge take-up roll 5 becomes greater than the sheet conveyance speed by a certain value or more, a signal 10 is sent to the drive control device 11. That is, when the edge 3 breaks, the rotational speed of the edge take-up roll 5 tends to become higher than the sheet conveyance speed, so the edge breakage is detected by the increased rotational speed, and a signal is sent to the drive control device 11. Then, driving of the slitter is stopped.

Therefore, as soon as edge breakage is detected, the slitter is decelerated and the drive is stopped, so that the edge take-up roll 5 is prevented from running out of control as in the conventional case, and the cut edge is removed from the contact pressure roll 6 or the conveyor. A large amount of winding around the roll 12 is also prevented in advance, and an adverse effect on the product winding roll 4 is prevented. Further, if the driving of the slitter is automatically stopped in response to the edge breakage detection signal as in this embodiment, the operator does not need to constantly monitor for trouble.

Next, in the method according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the control device 9 relatively compares the signals from the left and right rotational speed detectors 7, that is, the rotational speeds of the left and right edge take-up rolls 5. When the rotational speed difference exceeds a certain value, it is determined that one of the edges 3 is cut, and a signal thereof is sent to the drive control device @11 to stop driving the slitter. Other operations are similar to those in the first embodiment.

Next, in the method according to the third embodiment of the present invention, in the control device 9, the signal from the rotation speed detector 7 and the signal from the rotation speed detector 13 are compared, and the rotation speed ratio of the edge take-up roll 5 is determined. and the rotational speed ratio of the transport roll 12 are compared. The rotational speed ratio here refers to the ratio of the rotational speed change rate to the rotational speed, and in normal operation, the rotational speed ratio of the edge take-up roll 5 and the rotational speed ratio of the conveyance roll 12 is Since the take-up roll 5 and the conveyance roll 12 are connected by the sheet-like material 1, they are almost equal, but if the edge 3 breaks, the edge take-up roll 5 tends to run out of control, so the rotational speed of the edge take-up roll 5 changes. The ratio changes rapidly. This change is detected by processing the signal from the rotational speed detector 7.13, and an edge break is detected. Other operations are similar to those in the first embodiment.

In this embodiment, a dancer roll 15 which is pressed against the running edge 3 and is swingable is provided immediately before the edge take-up roll 5 as an edge breakage detection means. When the edge 3 breaks, the dancer roll 15 swings toward the edge 3, so the displacement of the dancer roll 15 is detected by the displacement detector 16, and a detection signal is sent to the control device 9 to detect the breakage of the edge. Ru. Other operations are similar to those in the first embodiment.

Furthermore, although not shown, if the edge take-up roll 5 is driven by oil pressure, when the edge 3 breaks, the load will suddenly become lighter and the oil pressure will drop rapidly, so this change in oil pressure will be detected. It is also possible to detect edge breakage.
