度が限界であつた。本発明者は、このような従来の実情
に鑑み、蚊取線香基材として要求される前記条件を備し
た多くの植物組織の粉末について研究した結果、コーヒ
ー百般の内皮粉末が、蚊取線香基材として優れた性質を
持つことを見いだした。

にもかかわらず今日まで使用用途は見い出されていなか
つた。コーヒー豆殼を蚊取線香の基材として比較した時
、外皮は黒色を呈しているので染色性が悪く、また蛋白
質分に富むために、外皮の粉末や、外皮および内皮の混
合物の粉末は、燻煙時、刺激を発するとともに、悪息を
発して線香基材としては不適当てあるが、コーヒー豆殻
の内皮の粉末は、淡色であり染色性にすぐれ、燻煙時刺
激および異臭は感じられない。本発明に使用するコーヒ
ー豆殼の内皮を粉末にするのは従来から木粉等の製造に
使用されている粉砕機て十分可能てあり、また別の方法
として、おが屑、チップなどを原料として加熱加圧処理
でオガライトを得ているのと同様の方法でコーヒー豆殻
の内皮を処理した後、粉砕して粉末とすることもできる
