Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the flow resistance of the intake and exhaust by making the valve in a plate-like slide valve configuration. CONSTITUTION:A plate-like slide valve 1 is provided to cross an intake or exhaust port 9. The slide valve 1 has a valve hole 7, and is reinforced in strength by protrusions on its surface. The perimeter of the valve hole 7 is provided with a seal 4 for enhancing the sealing performance. The slide valve 1 is biased in one direction by a spring 3, and is opened and closed synchronously with the engine rotation by a cam 2. As there is no resistance like a lift valve working on the intake and exhaust, the flow resistance can be reduced.
