DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to flame retardant carpet backing adhesive compositions.

Specifically, it is a flame-retardant carpet lining adhesive composition mainly containing polymer latex and basic magnesium carbonate.

Examples of the polymer latex used in the present invention include styrene-butadiene copolymer latex, methyl methacrylate-butadiene copolymer latex, polybutadiene latex, acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer latex, and lonitrile-butadiene copolymer latex. These include coalescence latex, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer latex, ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer latex, vinyl chloride polymer latex, vinylidene chloride polymer latex, vinyl chloride-acrylate copolymer latex, chloroprene, etc. The latex may contain carboxyl groups, hydroxyl groups, N-methylol groups, amide groups, glycidyl groups, etc. These polymer latexes may be used in one or more types.

Example 1 An adhesive composition having the composition shown in Table 1 was prepared and applied to the back of a 1 inch gauge cut bail carpet with a polyester seal and a seal length of 7 mm.
